Train With Marcus
“Babies, puppies, and motorcycles,” these are a few of Marcus Tine’s favorite things. They sum up this dedicated, compassionate, yet tough trainer who joined the Old Town Athletic Club team in 2010.
Marcus, a Fauquier native, began his fitness career in 2007 after graduating from Salisbury University with a degree in exercise science. He worked with several respected clubs in the Silver Springs, Maryland area before returning to Warrenton with a wife and family of his own (shortly after the birth of his eldest child) three years ago.
His Fauquier roots make his work at Old Town Athletic Club particularly rewarding and important to him.
“It’s not just thanks for your money; I appreciate it, and have a good day. This is my community.”
Marcus sees working where you live as a refreshing perk to what he does. His clients are not just “clients” they are people that he sees when he goes to dinner with his family, they are parents of children his kids are in school with; they are his neighbors. He values each and every person who is put in his caring hands.
“It is a great satisfaction knowing that I had a small part in changing someone’s life. My mom is a nurse so I always grew up with that aspect of helping others; it’s just the type of person I am. I like doing for others and I get a jump out of getting people to where they want to be.”
Marcus’s primary goal is to communicate with, understand and get to know his clients. His first meeting consists of really “hearing out” what he or she wants to accomplish instead of telling them what he wants to see them do.
“I listen. There are so many different ways to train and approaches to take; it really just depends on the person I am training. The result is a completely customized training plan for each client.”
Marcus does not tell anyone to “diet.” Instead, he insists you must give your body what it needs.
“Once you have a good understanding of what a healthy lifestyle is and what your body needs, everything else follows.”
For Marcus, this is not just a job; it’s a way of life, a lifestyle. It’s a lifestyle that he is eager to help all of his community attain—together.
